Most companies in North-Western Province have equipment of some sort and from time to time that equipment will need repairing. Time is money and the longer it takes to get the equipment back in production the more money is lost. Before Eagle opened, clients of all sizes were getting their metal works done by suppliers who were more than 200km outside Solwezi and 400km from Kalumbila. Not only does this involve high transportation costs but it also means that production equipment has significantly longer down-time than necessary.
Solwezi-based Eagle metal fabrication was established as a partnership between the Accelerator Fund, Kukula Seed, and WJ Engineering. The company has been set up to service the North-Western Province market for all types of metal works, both repairs and fabrication of new items. This will be done through a state-of-the-art workshop with a broad variety of machinery and a very strong technical team.
Eagle was officially launched in June 2016 and has since experienced a steady increase in business from local companies who now have a valuable supplier on their doorstep. Despite being a new operation, the client base is growing every month, repeat custom is developing and there is a consistent flow of jobs.
Eagle has also started to establish trading links with large corporations. It has recently agreed with First Quantum Minerals to set up a new product line with magnetic crack testing of rims and Eagle has conducted training for selected employees to build up their technical capacity within this field of expertise.
