October saw the third season of the Nyamuka Zambia Business Plan Competition draw to a close. Approximately 600 applicants had started out on the journey back in April, with 60 making it through to the semi-final stage. These 60 received one-to-one support to develop a detailed business plan of which 10 were selected as finalists – all winning a prize of at least K75,000. The top prizes which ranged from K125,000 to K250,000 were awarded by a prestigeous panel of judges on the Game Plan TV series which was screened on ZNBC. You can catch up with the programmes on YouTube
The top prize of K250,000 was scooped by Canaan Banda for his rice processing business project, seen here in the centre, receiving his prize from the Honourable Mrs Sylvia Chalikosa (Minister from the office of the Vice President) and Mr Mato Shimabale (Barclays Bank, anchor sponsor 2016 and 2017).
